Ward 9 is the heartbeat of Charleston, running along the Kanawha River’s north bank and covering most of downtown plus much of the East End. It stretches from around the Civic Center and Pennsylvania Ave all the way out toward Bradford and Elizabeth St.
If you’ve been to a concert at the Coliseum, a festival at Haddad Riverfront Park, grabbed lunch on Capitol Street, or caught a show at the Clay Center, you’ve already been in Ward 9. It’s home to our city’s biggest events, most iconic music, and a whole lot of the energy that makes Charleston… Charleston.
